U.S. EPA and the WaterISAC to Host a Webinar Series on Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS)

All water utility employees who may be required to respond during an emergency must possess a minimum level of ICS and NIMS training (Homeland Security Presidential Directive 8). In the past few years, the U.S. EPA has sponsored dozens of ICS and NIMS classes for the water sector around the country. To make this vital information more easily available, EPA and WaterISAC have joined forces to help stage interactive webinars designed specifically for drinking and wastewater utility personnel.

By participating in the webinar courses, participants will

  1. learn about ICS and NIMS in the context of water sector centric examples
  2. receive quick highlights or refresher of ICS-100, ICS-200, NIMS-700, and NRF-800 in abbreviated 1- or 1.5-hour courses;
  3. be well prepared to take and receive credit from the applicable on-line FEMA ICS/NIMS courses.

WaterISAC subscribers and others are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity which is 100% free of charge! The webinar courses will take place in four parts on April 2, 9, 23 and 30 with each session beginning at 2 PM EDT.

The webinars on April 2 and 9 will cover the Incident Command System (ICS) by describing the history, features, principles, and organizational structure of ICS. The second set of webinars on April 23 and 30 will cover the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the National Response Framework (NRF) by describing the five components of NIMS and how the NRF guides the federal response during large domestic incidents.
